NATURAL STORAGE METHOD OF POTATOAT MUNSHIGANJ REGION Characteristics #Potato can be stored at farmers’ field immediate after harvesting for 3-4 months; #The quality of potato and skin color remains quite unchanged utilizing this technology; #Inputs associated with this technology are readily available at farmers’ level; and #This technology has the potential to avoid seasonal market glut. |
This technology includes rice straw as storage materials providing shade by triple above the heap with bamboo and potato could be stored at ambient condition.
So, this technology could be adopted to obtain fair price and potato farmers would be able to uplift their socio-economic condition. |

SUITABLE POTATO VARIETIES FOR CULTIVATION UNDER DROUGHT PRONE REGIONS Characteristics #BARI Alu-25, BARI Alu-28 and BARI Alu-36 can be cultivated under water stress condition; i.e. without irrigation or with a single irrigation; #This technology applies where irrigation water scarcity exists during potato growing season; and #Farmers could choose the potato variety as per water stress condition of respective particular region. |
These varieties could be cultivated in drought prone areas without irrigation and cultivation cost for irrigation would be minimized. Thus farmers will be benefitted by adopting this technology. |
